Safeguarding
Draft: to be reviewed by counsel before launch
The safety and dignity of children come before everything else, including our own storytelling and fundraising.
Our commitments
- Consent management for every story, photograph and artwork, with guardian approval for children.
- Story approval before anything is published.
- Anonymous or pseudonymous profiles wherever appropriate.
- Independent image permissions and the right to withdraw consent.
- Screening and safeguarding training for staff and volunteers who work with children.
Child protection
We never publicly publish children's exact addresses, current locations, travel plans, real-time movements, family relocation details, sensitive personal information, or anything that could expose someone to retaliation. Requests for assistance are handled through a secure intake process, never a public inbox.
Raising a concern
If you have a safeguarding concern, please write to support@cohusa.org with the subject line "Safeguarding". If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
